Deviation Actions
My fellow Deviants,
So....I've been away for a little while. I stopped drawing for a little while, do to a combination of health reasons and emotional ones. A short time ago, my good friend, Jeremy Dale passed away. His death left his wife, family and all of his friends devastated. Less than a month of Jeremy died, my buddy, Chris Carlton took his own life. Both Chris and Jeremy were my close friends. I loved them both. They were like brothers to me, so I've been very depressed for months. I stopped drawing for a while, and I stopped posting on message boards and sites like DeviantArt, PencilJack, Facebook, and Twitter.
My wife, Carolyn, and my Skype pals, Morgan , Gretchen , Melonie , Jason , Matt , Steve, and Frank were very instrumental in pulling me out of my gloomy frame of mind. Carolyn has always been the person I depend on the most for support. She's always so amazing. After 19 years of marriage, she and I are still extremely happy together. I love her so very much.
Gretchen and Melonie have also been particularly great to me,...distracting me with sessions of DUNGEONS & DRAGONS, which slowly lifted me from my misery. I also got a nice job handed to me, which has also helped matters a great deal. About a month ago I received an email from a GOLDEN BOOKS editor at RANDOM HOUSE. I had illustrated several DC COMICS SUPER FRIENDS books for kids a few years ago, and now the SUPER FRIENDS was riding high again. The editor signed me up to illustrate a new book, and the job pays very, very well. Licensing books usually pay well -- most of the time, a lot better than comics -- but this job is going to be especially financially rewarding. Now, I have something to work on. Something to focus on. Something to draw.
My pal, Olli is back on Skype now, so I have the joy of chatting with him again also. Happy days!
I'm back. That's the short of it. I'm back online, and posting. Thanks, everyone, for sticking around. I appreciate that you are WATCHING my DA gallery. Please do me an honor. Pass my work around online. Tell you're friends to check out my work. I'll be thanking you for it. As always, I appreciate WATCHES, +FAVES, and COMMENTS on my posts. Your support means a lot to me!
Glad to be back,
Loston

Showcasing Suicide Squad Commissions
So I was sitting in my studio this morning, preparing to start a new commission. Every illustration, drawing, comic panel, etc offers its own unique challenge, and this new commission will certainly be a doozy. This commission will feature four science heroes from DC Comics 1960s THE BRAVE AND THE BOLD series, a snazzy 1950s helicopter, and a cadre of prehistoric velociraptors! It's another in a series of SUICIDE SQUAD retro covers prepared for my buddy, Bill Cox ~AtlasFan (https://www.deviantart.com/atlasfan) I can't say that I've drawn a ton helicopters in my life, but I have drawn them many times before, and I think I can manage with the right reference images to guide
