Romita Jr's Thor- Inked

I downloaded JR Jr's pencilled THOR cover and inked it using Pitt Pens. Here's what the pencils looked like: [link]
This was done as an exercise--part of a Penciljack inking lab. I've been a fan of John Romita Jr since the early '80s when was the regular penciller on IRON MAN. His first run on AMAZING SPIDER-MAN (the era of the Hobgoblin) is still one of my favorite Spidey eras! I really dig how he pencils. There's always room for an inker to do some interpretation, and that makes him one of the most fun pencillers to ink, IMO.

I ink traditionally, and I usually ink with a brush, but I thought I might try my hand at rendering the drawing with some crosshatching techniques, which I don't often get a chance to do. Back in the '60s and '70s it was not uncommon to see such techniques being utilized in comic magazines like THE SAVAGE SWORD OF CONAN, and Warren Publishing's VAMPIRELLA, CREEPY, and EERIE Magazines. I often miss seeing the brilliant detailed works of Jose Gonzales, Esteban Maroto , Alex Nino and many other artists of that era. It was kind of fun to render in this different approach for a change, so I Hope you enjoy it.
