Several months ago I began receiving work from IDW as a cover artist. The first cover I did was for Wally Wood's '60s superhero squad, the T.H.U.N.D.E.R. AGENTS! Anyone who knows me well knows that I'm a huge fan of Wally Wood. My artwork has been influenced heavily by Wood, so I was thrilled to get this gig. Originally, it was slated to the cover of a trade edition, reprinting the 1960s stories of the THUNDER AGENTS, but the licensor liked my cover, and wanted to use it on IDW's new THUNDER AGENT series. So now, you can see it as the cover to THUNDER AGENTS #3. I'm not sure if it's a variant cover or not, so please ask your local comic shop owner to order you a copy with my cover. I'd really appreciate the support, and that may be the only way you can get a copy with my cover. IDW's variant covers are often only for subscribers, so check with your comic shop owner to be safe.
The IDW editor really liked my Thing collage image, and suggested that I do the cover in a similar fashion, so I was happy to oblige him.
The final composition took a little doing to get all the heads positioned and sized just right. I went through my original THUNDER AGENTS comics and picked out all the key players--Holy hannah! There's a TON of characters!! Pencil and inks are by me
, and the nifty colors are by Steve Downer :icons downer: . Steve did a nice retro 4-color comic book style treatment on the floating heads and a more modern treatment on the full figure of Dynamo, the main hero of the series. I hope you enjoy seeing yet another of our efforts together!
