This is pencil art for a flyer used to promote STRANGE PASSAGES, a pulp comic I'm working on with Micah Harris. The style of the book has been altered since this and other images were created, but the designs remain the same. The girl on the alter is Megara McConnell and the guy in the mask is Erasamus Bierce. The Aztec-zombies are Bierce's henchmen.

Strange Passages, Megara McConnell, and Erasamus Bierce are 2007 trademarks (TM) and copyrights (C) of Micah Harris and Loston Wallace.

Thanks! I actually sort of through that together in about 2 hours (from concept to finish). At the last minute before DRAGONCON 2005, the writer of STRANGE PASSAGES decided he'd like to have a flyer to hand out from his table at the con. He asked me to use some character art from SP, but I felt that something new had to be made up special for the flyer, so I sat down and got to work. We handed out over 600 flyers at the con. People came back to the desk asking if I could sign the flyer, and asked if they could take a few for their friends! Heh. Must be the half-naked girl--people seem to like that sort of thing. ;)

Loston
lol, must've felt awesome having people appreciate ur work like that!

Art so thick, you can stand a fork in it

Thanks! That's the main villain from STRANGE PASSAGES. I'm glad you like my design. I don't want to spill too much info about the character here, but he's sort of an evil sorceror/necromancer. I wanted him to be very mysterious, dark and cold sort of character. Someone you wouldn't care to meet in a dark room--someone a little unnerving. His design also had to fit into the trappings of a 30s style pulp comic, so the mask and the suit seem to accomplish all my goals well. I really had fun coming up with his mask design. I went so far as to actually sculpt a palm-sized model of his mask out of Super Sculpy a while back, just so I had it figured out just right. Having an actual 3-D model helps in other ways too--things like complicated lighting and overall design consistancy.

I appreciate the comment, man!

Loston
well mission accomplished, it really has a 30's pulp feel, with a cold futuristic offsetting mood to it too, in my opinion

jhames,

Here's the sculpt I did a while back. Creepy eyes added in photoshop to disturbing effect:

Glad you like it!

Loston
