Artist's Comments

Back around 1997 or 1998 I began playing with Super Sculpey. Now believe me when I tell you that I don't know a lot about sculpting-I don't. Still, I figured, "How hard could it be?" Well, it's not terribly easy, and it's pretty time consuming when you have no skills and no tools, but I did manage to sculpt something that I'm still rather proud of. I think I had only a pencil and my fingers to work with at the time, but I decided to sculpt Igoo, the rock-ape from the '60s Hanna Barbera HERCULOIDS cartoon. I used Alex Toth's animation model as a guide, and did my best to adhere to it. I was pretty satisfied with the sculpt, but found that I was faced with a problem where painting it was concerned. Igoo's color palette actually changes, depending on which episodes of the Herculoids you watch. Sometimes he's colored a warm brown color, and other times a slate-gray color. In the end, I chose the gray. It's more ape-like to me.

Anyway, I hope you enjoy seeing this sculpt of Igoo. It's over 10 years old now, and I just received an offer from someone who wants to buy it from me. I don't think I can part with it though. I've had it for a decade, so I've grown fond of it.

Good stuff, Loston!

Funny how, even when it's not necessarily our finest work, we become so attached to something we've created, isn't it?

I think this is a great piece.

PS - What about your Hulk? Will you show that too? That was amazing!

Hmm... I'm really liking this Super Sculpey thing -- I've been seeing some pretty good works with it around DA. Makes me wanna try that too!

Good figurine, btw! (oh, and thanks for your comment on my Dexter pinup on PencilJack, really appreciated).

Cheers

So, how much did they offer?

It's a damn-good sculpture in my opinion.

The asked if I'd entertain the idea of selling it or not. No figure was discussed.
:iconcoreypledger:
Ah.

That's awesome, though. And the sculpture is awesome too.
