Ben Grimm Prelim

Here is a tight preliminary drawing of Ben Grimm, the Ever-lovin' blue eyed Thing! I'm doing a 11x17 final version of this image on bristol board with brush inks. This is a prelim drawing done on copy paper and inked quickly with a Pitt brushpen.

You gotta love good ol' Ben Grimm! He's the hard luck case with the heart of gold. When the Thing is not getting pranked hard by the Yancy Street gang, Johnny Storm takes on the duty. Ben's the last hero on Earth who'd back away from a fight, and even if he's outclassed, he'll find a way to get back up and clobber his opponents. "It's clobberin' time!" means he's had enough, and you should prepare yourself for an old fashion beat down, "Rocky" Grimm style!

Next to the Hulk, Ben's my favorite powerhouse character, and I think the old school Thing is still the best version! 'Nuff said! Long live Aunt Petunia's favorite Nephew!
